Warning on four ayurvedic medicines

SINGAPORE health officials
warned the public on Wednesday against consuming four Indian traditional medicines after tests showed they contain excessive amounts of lead and mercury.

The four, also known as
ayurvedic medicines, were identified as Annai Aravindh Herbals Rheuma-7 Capsules, Himalaya Diabecon Tablets, Laurel's Diabecs Capsules and Goodcare Diabet Guard Granules.

Take care because the consumption of excessive amounts of heavy metals such as lead and mercury poses serious health risks as they can accumulate in vital body organs. Symptoms of lead and mercury poisoning include abdominal pain, vomiting, bloody diarrhoea, kidney damage and impairment of the nerves and mental function.

I wonder why the Malaysian health authorities have not sounded a similar warning. Some of these brands are rather popular ones.
